Here's a 500,000-Pound Transformer Being Shipped on Northeast Ohio Roads Today

It's actually 521,600 pounds, to be exact. That's why ODOT calls it a "superload."

The transformer (19 feet tall, 190 feet long) departs from Fairport Harbor today in transit to its home at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.

Yes, moving something weighing a half million pounds is a delicate situation. At times, the transport will be inching along at only 10 mph. Rolling roadblocks and closed lanes will help the load move down State Route 535 toward U.S. 20. More road closures to be aware of for folks in the area can be found at the News-Herald.
