Local Band in Focus

Annabel

Meet the Band: Ben Hendricks (guitar, vocals), Andy Hendricks (drums), Corey Willis (guitar, keyboards), and Scott Moses (bass).

Brotherly Love: In 2004, brothers Ben and Andy Hendricks' individual high-school bands came to an end, which opened up an opportunity to play together for the first time. "Everyone always said we should start a band together anyway," says Ben.

Food for Thought: Annabel have been on seven tours stretching from California to Florida. The tuneful indie rockers love performing live, but Ben is also fond of the studio. "[Recording] is like putting all of your ideas under a microscope, finally seeing what you really have in each song." he says. But tinkering isn't the only benefit of the studio: "The break-time meal is one of the most satisfying ways to eat food," says Ben.

Why You Should Hear Them: All four members come together in a mix of intersecting styles and moods. The overlapping guitar lines and Ben's voice recall Death Cab for Cutie's earnestness and grace, while the rhythm section's drive and inventiveness add muscle and melodic surprises to the songs.
