Materiality. Three winners of the Creative Workforce Fellowship exhibit. Michael J. Mikula's intricate, stylized glassworks depicting designs of the 20th century channel Art Deco. Stephen Yusko's metal constructions are instantly recognizable in their embodied functions. Sai Sinbondit's adaptable structures draw upon his own family's experiences in refugee camps to provide practical possibilities for displaced persons. Cleveland Artists Foundation: Black and White. An overview of painter Edwin Mieczkowski's geometric abstractions focuses on the artist's colorless works from the 1960s and relates them to his later, more colorful works. Loren Naji Studio and Gallery: Celebrate Cleveland. Photographer Victoria Miller and graphic artist Rick Novario exhibit digitally altered views of our industrial city along with works by Michael Nekic. Also: Beautiful Possibility. Currently artist-in-residence at Spaces, Alison Pebworth brings her cross-country tour to Cleveland, with interactive exhibits that explore what it means to be an American. Sculpture Center: Stirring Waters/Between Two Bodies. Works by 10 Massachusetts artists. Peter Haines invokes the primeval with monolithic bronzes in deceptively simple shapes, like hunter-gatherer carvings. Hannah Verlin infuses humor into her mass construction of simple figures that form sets greater than the sum of their parts. Wasmer Gallery at Ursuline College: The First Earth Show — Part 3. Cleveland artists Debra Sue Solecki and Paul Newsome and Californian Martin Kanton pay tribute to the planet. Their paintings and mixed-media works employ natural materials like clay, metal, and raw pigment.
