Tazatini @ Taza

Give us a bowl of creamy hummus and we're generally happy campers. So imagine how giddy we were to discover Happy Hour at Taza, the upscale sister in the region's popular Aladdin's family? Situated in the intimate space that once was home to Crop Bistro, this Warehouse District beauty knows how to make us smile. From 4 to 7 p.m. at the bar each weekday, we can sweep warm pita through first-rate hummus and babaghanoush, or nibble on dawali (stuffed grape leaves), falafel, or diced potatoes in lemon and cilantro — all for just $3 a pop. Best of all, $6 snags us the signature Tazatini: an exotic blend of French cognac, Grand Marnier, imported rose water, and Stoli Vanil. Floral aromas and blushing pinkness notwithstanding, the cocktail is no girlish fruit bomb. But does it make us happy? Oh yes it does. — Elaine T. Cicora
