One of Northeast Ohio's great houses of brew just locked up a big prize at a national festival.
North Olmsted's Fat Heads took home the top prize for its Head Hunter IPA, a favorite here among the Scene staff. The laurels were handed out at the West Coast IPA Festival. This is the 15th time the event has taken place. The Head Hunter also snagged the top honors last year. So congrats to the Fat Heads crew.
Here's the330.com with some more details:
"It’s kind of cool that we have a Midwest brewery winning a West Coast event," brewer Matt Cole said. "The brewers come out in full force and this is about bragging rights."Head Hunter continues to rack up awards. It won the West Coast IPA Festival in 2009 and has earned honors at the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, International Beer Fest, Denver International Beer Competition and Brewing News National IPA Championship. Not bad for a brewery that opened in 2009. Considering the awards, the website Aleheads even questioned earlier this year whether Head Hunter deserves to be called the best IPA in the country.
