You're really scraping at a new low when you start skimming off the kids' soccer team. Robbing a bank, cooking up a short-order of meth — arguably all forms of criminal douchery done for quick cash a short step up from dipping into the cookie jar set aside for a group of kids to travel around kicking a ball. Plus, it's soccer, so they're probably already getting shit at school.

Which makes Julie A. Lauter's alleged crime all the more stomach-turning. Add in the fact that Lauter was married to a police captain, and you have a real sad case.

According to the Plain Dealer, the 42-year-old Parma Heights woman took the money from the Parma Heights Travel Soccer Club, a group Lauter served as treasurer. At the start of this year, the group's officers filed a police report claiming she'd snatched $10,000 from the piggy bank. The paper reports the husband — Parma Heights Police Captain Garry Lauter — was named in the report and at the time was iced out on administrative leave.

Now, Julie Lauter has been charged with grand theft and money laundering. Her husband apparently didn't have anything to do with the alleged grab; he has not been charged and was placed back on active duty.
