Van Morrison Tribute by Nitebridge & Colin Dussault
Local bluesman Colin Dussault started playing harmonica when he was in high school, and he says when he heard the Yardbirds, a British blues band that made use of harmonica, he knew that he could capably play the thing too. Thirty years on, he’s established himself as a solid blues player and within the past year has teamed up with locally based singer-pianist Maurice Moss Stanley and Nitebridge to start his popular Van Morrison Tribute. Horrible Fest 2019 Night 2 with Zorn/Pobreza Mental/Citric Dummies/Donkey Bugs/FLQ/Negative Scanner/Der Commissar/Knowso/Scalpel
Nearly every Memorial Day weekend for the past decade or so, Paul Shlachter, owner of Now That’s Class, a Westside punk rock club that plays host to an eclectic array of concerts and special events, has produced Horriblefest, a multi-day underground music festival. Last year, he took a year off, but the festival is back at the club this weekend with another eclectic mix of obscure bands. There's a hot tub kickoff party today at 5, and then a night of music that starts at 8. The festival continues through Sunday. Check the venue's website for more info. (Niesel) 8 p.m., $20. M. Moody Single Release/Mr. Carnivore/Bonnie Clydeman
A locally based funk-rock/alt-soul band, M. Moody originally began as a solo project for front man, Matt Miller. It eventually evolved into a band, and and the group has a strong presence on the local circuit. The group will celebrate the release of its funky new single, "Face2Face," with tonight’s show at the Happy Dog. (Niesel), 9 p.m., $7. Happy Dog.
SATURDAY, MAY 25
Andre Costello and the Cool Minors
Singer Andre Costello started the Cool Minors as a solo project and issued the band's first album back in 2011. The band subsequently came together and the group now includes bassist Matthew Fiorillo and drummer Nicholas Charters, in addition to Costello himself. Costello has shared the stage with bands like Atlas Sound, David Wax Museum and Kelley Deal’s R. Ring, and the songs on the group's latest effort, The Rattling Arcade, have a distinctive rootsy feel to them. (Niesel) 8:30 p.m., $10 ADV, $12 DOS. Beachland Tavern.
Geto Boys [Canceled]
Last year, members of the rap group the Geto Boys began to discuss the possibility of reuniting for one final tour. It took a tragedy to bring the tour to fruition. In the wake of member Bushwick Bill’s Stage 4 cancer diagnosis, the group has decided to hit the road one last time. The group will play just a handful of shows at the end of this month in order for fans to be able to see the group together one last time. Dubbed the Beginning of a Long Goodbye, the tour will benefit pancreatic cancer awareness. (Niesel), 8 p.m. Agora Theatre.

Apocalyptica
Apocalyptica, the classical music oddity that features four cellists playing Metallica tunes, returns to tonight to headline the Ohio Theatre. According to a press release announcing the tour, the members "bring a headbangers’ energy to the theatrical proceedings, whipping their long manes in the air and sawing away with fervor on their cellos" as they play tracks such as "Enter Sandman," "Master of Puppets" and "Sad But True." Should be quite the spectacle. (Niesel), 8 p.m., $35-$55. Ohio Theatre.
Orange Animal Album Release Show with the Del Rios/The Robin Blake Sound Experiment/Taylor Lamborn
This local group’s latest album, No Song Sick Hearts, is a more polished effort, and the musical genres change from song to song. The album features backup vocals from Taylor Lamborn and organ work from Rob Kovacs. Though primarily a rock act, the group draws from folk too. (Emanuel Wallace) 8:30 p.m., $8 ADV, $10 DOS.
