For those that have driven down Professor street in Tremont you might have noticed the brown paper in the windows. Usually when this is spotted it signals a new era for the location. And in this case you would be right.
Long time owner operator Mary Ann Ludwig has sold both her Scoops ice cream business and the building. To whom you might ask? An unlikely group of individuals. Meet Paul Weinzimmer. You might recognize him and his wife as the couple featured on HGTV' s House Hunters for the rehab of their Tremont property. When Weinzimmer heard of the property and business being up for sale they tweeted their intentions. In fact, Twitter became their way of creating an investment group. Through those few tweets their group was formed, and the building and business is now theirs. The new owners are currently working on an interior renovation, but plan on keeping the name and concept. "We are modernizing the space, and plan on building on the success of scoops" states Weinzimmer. A re-launch date is not scheduled, but look for an early Spring opening.
