A man and a woman were arrested recently for allegedly spending hundreds of dollars in counterfeit money at Amish roadside stands in Wayne County.

Eric R. Ramey, 28, and Monica L. Nussbaum, 25 were apprehended on June 28, 2013 after a victim gave authorities their license plate information. Deputies spotted the accused at a nearby Mount Eaton gas station and took the pair into custody.

The suspects told police that they were using large counterfeit bills to make small purchases at the roadside stalls. They received both the change and the product upon each transaction.

They also confessed that they had altered real $1 bills to look like $100s and $50s.

Both suspects are facing local and federal charges in this case.
