El Carnicero to Kick Off Mexi-Brunch in Early October

El Carnicero (16918 Detroit Ave., 216-226-3415) in Lakewood has been up and running for a little over two months, and chef-owner Eric Williams thinks the time is right to kick off weekend brunch. He says his neighborhood and clientele made the decision to offer brunch a no-brainier.

"Lakewood is the perfect neighborhood to hold brunch service," explains Williams. "People are out early on the weekends, so it made sense to begin serving brunch."

Starting October 5th, and running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays thereafter, the concise brunch menu will feature Mexican-inspired breakfast dishes such as chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, and daily specials.

"I want the menu to be simple but offer a variety of unique dishes, plus something different on both our brunch and regular cocktail menus," Williams adds.

Among the items on the menu are cornmeal-crusted chile rellenos, pork belly taquitos with egg, chilaquiles with smoked salmon and fried eggs, and huevos rancheros with chorizo sausage and eggs. Prices range from $6 to $12.50.

Brunch-y cocktails include a spicy orange and tequila beverage with cinnamon, and a bloody mary made with bacon-infused vodka.

If brunch isn't your speed, the regular EL C menu is available all day as well.
