Local musician posts music video parodying Toronto mayor

Best known as the front man for local Americana act Texas Plant, Matthew Leeb apparently appreciates a wide variety of music. He sings and plays harmonica with Texas Plant but he also raps. Who knew? He’s just constructed a music video (to the beat of Jay Z’s “Tom Ford) that serves as a parody of Toronto’s crack-smoking mayor Rob Ford. The video includes original lyrics about (Rob) Ford and his scandalous habit. It also features photos of Ford that have been digitally altered so that it appears a crack pipe is in his mouth. “It’s something a little different,” Leeb says. Texas Plant performs at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday in Ohio City as part of Brite Winter. No word on whether the tune will become part of its set. But you can check out the video here:
