Throughout the two-set show, each member locked in with one another and delivered scorching melodies or rhythms over every song. Guitarist Chris Houser reminded all the in the audience that, good lord, he can shred when he's feelin' it. And he felt the call of the mighty, major-key solo many times last night.
Dan Shaw, on the keyboard, sounded terrific too. He joined the band on its winter tour back in January, and his master's touch has been a great addition.
"Gameplan," a bit of a throwback got everyone in a very mobile mood. The lighting complemented everything coming out of the speakers, though the obnoxious LED hula hoops (par for the course at these jam shows) didn't help matters. (One hula hooper lost control of her gear, letting it sort of fly into the audience and just bop some guy on the head. Lots of that.)

Broccoli Samurai opened the show with deft electronic ability. I hadn't seen them since prior to the release of their latest album. Despite a moment of monitor trouble, the band sounded terrific last night.
Notably, that was the last Cleveland show with Steve Fade on bass.
Aliver Hall opens tonight's second Werks show, rounding out a solid two-nighter in Cleveland.
