Downtown New Year's Eve Party Details Announced

Carlos Jones, DJ E-V, Machine Gun Kelly to Perform on Mall B

The holiday season is about to fly by, everybody, so with all due haste we gathered downtown earlier this afternoon to learn about the big plans for this year's New Year's Eve party, appropriately dubbed CLE Rocks NYE.

Carlos Jones, DJ-EV, and Machine Gun Kelly will perform at this year's event — a huge Cleveland-focused party that will expand on last year's fun and, notably, take place on Mall B this time around.

19 Action News' George Smith and Danielle Serino will host the evening's goings-on (a la Ryan Seacrest in New York City, etc.).

Tickets will cost $10 for this year's outing. They can be purchased at

Last year's party brought 15,000 people to Public Square for a Drew Carey-led festival of lights and sounds and fireworks. There's a cap to attendance this year — and organizers are warning it may sell out — but downtown will be bursting at the seams relative to one year ago. The Cavs host the Milwaukee Bucks on New Year's Eve, and you can bet that the crowd will funnel itself from the Q to the Mall in celebratory fashion.

Downtown is gonna be sick nasty, as the kids say.

Alonzo Michell, managing partner for the event, lauded the Cleveland Rocks project as a sterling example of Cleveland's unity and self-expression. "We're all gonna do it together," he said. "We're gonna come together and celebrate. We're gonna drink together, we're gonna have a hot dog. We're gonna do it together."

Mitchell intimated that more special guests would be announced later on. "Something else may be coming down the line..."
