This Thursday, Dec. 11, in honor of MOCA Cleveland’s (11400 Euclid Ave.) current exhibition, Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity, organizers have arranged a special evening to discuss both the history as well as the modern state of mixology. The Cocktail: Origins and Evolution includes a panel discussion moderated by Master Sommelier Matthew Citriglia.
Panelists include award-winning bartender Cris Dehlavi, Velvet Tango Room’s owner Paulius Nasvytis, The Black Pig’s chef/owner Michael Nowak and the Watershed Distillery’s Dave Rego.
"The panel discussion will touch upon a wide variety of topics in the origins and evolution of the cocktail," says Citriglia. "We will discuss the cocktail's historical inception and development, the booming impact of America, historical figures, the crash of prohibition, the basic building blocks of mixology, distillation, and the modern movement of cocktails today."
During the event, you’ll have an opportunity to sample MOCA’s award-winning cocktail created for Notes on Creativity. The panel discussion and tasting begin at 7 p.m., and tickets are $15 ($10 for Members). Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity runs through Jan. 18.
