Great News for Korean BBQ Fans: Seoul Hot Pot to Reopen

Bok and Jin Hu were forced to close Seoul Hot Pot in 2013 after nearly 30 years in business when one of the owners was sidelined with an illness. At the time, the odds of the popular Korean restaurant ever reopening measured in at slim to none. That was bad news for fans of Korean barbecue because this Chinatown spot was the only one in town that featured tables with built-in grills for self-cooked kalbi.

Fresh work on the space signaled a change in fortune. The owners currently are revamping the interior, which was tired to say the least. The dingy carpet, permeated with the scent of a quarter century of indoor grilling, has been ripped out. It will be replaced – thankfully – by hardwood floors.

The Hus say that they intend to reopen Seoul Hot Pot (3709 Payne Ave.) in as little as one month.
