The Food Network is set to represent the 216 this holiday season with a mixture of guest judges and contestants from Northeast Ohio joining in "Cake Wars: Christmas."

The confection-filled throwdown premieres Nov. 9, unveiling Akron's expert cake sculptor Stephen Baity to the nation. In each installment of the six-episode series, teams of seven will bake, carve and decorate cake masterpieces for a panel of judges. As we've come to expect, at the end of each episode, one team will be sent home, dashing their fondant-rolling dreams.

The last team standing will win $50,000 from Food Network and become the reigning "Cake Wars: Christmas" champ, whatever that means.

Rooting for an NEO native should be enough to keep up with the crafty series. However, on the off chance Baity's eliminated before the finale, Food Network's given Clevelanders even more incentive to tune in by throwing in our resident Golden Globe nominee Monica Potter as a finale guest judge.

Potter is best known for her role in the NBC dramedy "Parenthood," for which she won the Critic's Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress.
