From Dec. 28 through Jan. 19, the city of Cleveland's Division of Waste Collection will be picking up discarded, live Christmas trees from local residents.

Those looking to have their tree disposed of should place it on the curb during normal waste collection days. In order to be picked up, the trees should be free of all decorations and lights, no matter how desperately you'd like to get rid of them. A separate collection truck will pick up the discarded trees and process them for recycling.

In the spring, Cleveland residents who show proof of their residency may receive one cubic yard of mulch from the recycled Christmas trees at no cost, while supplies last.

For further information regarding waste collection, please call the City of Cleveland's Division of Waste Collection at 216-664-3711.
