The Beachland Ballroom Launches Themed Dinner Series

[image-1]The Beachland Ballroom and Tavern recently added weekday lunch service, a first for the 15-year-old venue. The Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunches, noted owner Cindy Barber, was in response to heightened demand from neighbors. That new lunch service joined Saturday lunches, popular Sunday brunches and showtime dinners.

Next up for the Waterloo destination: a new dinner series, which will take place on Wednesday evenings in the Tavern.

“Beachland is stretching its food muscles and trying a variety of ways to contribute to the growing local restaurant scene, especially in light of the loss of the Grovewood in our neighborhood,” Barber notes. “We have been experimenting with pre-concert food specials like recently offering Southern-style catfish Po Boys and jambalaya when New Orleans musician Tab Benoit performed in the ballroom.”

Slated for January 6, 13 and 20, the all-inclusive themed dinners include live entertainment, cocktails and a three-course meal featuring two appetizers, an entrée and dessert. Each menu is designed around a theme.

The first Dinner Series event is Americana Dinner with music by Maura Rogers & The Bellows. Items on the billing include smoked fish dip, stuffed mushrooms, bacon shrimp with cheddar grits and warm caramel apple pie with housemade maple bourbon ice cream.

The second dinner is a Southern-themed Blues Dinner featuring music by Austin Walkin’ Cane. Guests at this event can look forward to fried okra, crab cakes, Cajun-fried chicken, braised greens, sweet potato pie and blueberry cheesecake.

The third dinner is the Exotica Dinner with DJ p.stoops spinning rare tiki and exotica vinyl records. The Polynesian-themed menu will include chicken kabobs, BBQ Hawaiian pizza, mango bourbon crispy pork belly over coconut curry rice, pineapple upside-down cake and Mai Tais and Zombies to drink.

Tickets are $28 per person or a table of four for $100. The dinner events begin at 7 p.m. and there is limited seating.
