The Star Spangled Spectacular is returning to Public Square this year with the help of a grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. It will also mark one of the first free, public events held on the newly-renovated Public Square this summer.

The two-year grant gives the orchestra $175,000 each year to hold the concert. It's less than what the Cleveland Orchestra has received in previous years, but the vast majority of grants supplied by the CAC have been reduced in recent years.

Last year's Star Spangled Spectacular was shifted to the nearby Mall to make way for construction on the square. That's now slated to be officially completed June 1, more than a month before the Friday, July 29, concert.
