Artful Open House Will Showcase Future of Creativity in Cleveland Heights

Artful is a group of artists, educators, local business owners and attorneys seeking to bring affordable artist studio space to Cleveland Heights, polled as having the highest concentration of artists in Northeast Ohio. Artful recently announced that they’d found a home for their future studios at 2843 Washington Blvd. in Cleveland Heights. In addition to studios, the space will include retail space, classroom and gallery to showcase local, national and international artists.

“The Artful board has been working diligently for the last year and a half to locate affordable space to house artist studios, a gallery space and classroom space on the near East Side. Having secured our space in the Coventry building, we are now in the process of fundraising for our renovations and are within $7,000 of meeting our first goal which will garner us a $25,000 matching grant,” says Artful Board President Brady Dindia. “As we progress towards building our studios and our programs, we welcome the interest and feedback from our entire community.”

The organization is hosting an open house for members of the community and local business owners to see the new space before construction begins. The group will share plans regarding studio space, fundraising and timeline for construction, as well as answering questions you may have.

“On behalf of the entire Artful Board, we’re thrilled to be hosting our first Community Open House this Sunday, Nov. 6,” Dindia says. “We are honored to be working with architect John Williams of Process Creative Studios, and we recently held an open house for interested artists where we were able to share our vision of our space with them. This weekend we will welcome members of the community, and local business owners and non-profits to our space so that we can share with them our vision for our space, educate them about what Artful’s goals are and how projects like ours benefit the entire community.”

The Community Open House takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. this Sunday, Nov. 6. In addition to touring Artful’s future home, guests can learn about some of the organization’s new neighbors.

Elaborating on Sunday’s Community Open House, Dindia says, “We’re thrilled to have found significant space in the old Coventry School Building on Washington Blvd. and to be surrounded by several other successful local non-profits. In addition to learning more about Artful, visitors will also have the opportunity to gather information from our neighbors like Lake Erie Ink, or even walk through Urban Oak School’s space.”
