An Akron-area woman will not go to prison for swiping $30,000 from the Springfield Local Schools Athletic Booster Club, though she did receive five years of probation and an order to repay the money in monthly $350 increments.
It will take former booster club treasurer for the school district, Mia Balazowich, seven years to complete the payments, which total $30,812.67.
Parents at the school began to question Balazowich's activity after seeing charges for party favors and other things their funds were not intended for, and she subsequently plead guilty to grand theft.
The boosters' funds came from events such as dinners and raffles, and Balazowich admitted to spending the money on her daughter's wedding.
