Capitol Theatre to Screen Documentary Film About East Bay Punk Rock

Given that both Rancid and Green Day, punk acts that hail from the San Francisco Bay Area, included Northeast Ohio on their summer tours this year, local interest should be high for Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk, a new documentary film that traces three decades of Bay Area punk rock.

The film centers on the emergence of Berkeley's 924 Gilman Street music collective.

Narrated by Iggy Pop and executive produced by the members of Green Day, the movie promises to provide “the definitive telling of this vibrant story, drawing from a wide variety of voices and viewpoints and featuring the music of many of the most famous and infamous punk bands ever.”

It screens at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $9.75 for adults.
