It’s one of the most popular local businesses in Cleveland, but how much do you really know about local printer Jakprints? This Thursday, Engage! Cleveland offers a Behind the Scenes Tour of Jakprints’ world class, 150,000-sq.-ft. facility on Chester Avenue in Midtown. Led by Jakprints co-owner and CEO Nick DeTomas, guests will meet the talented, passionate staff and learn how the company produces all of its high-quality, full-color products.
"Cleveland is our home, Jakprints started and has grown up here over almost 20 years in business,” says Jakprints co-owner Dameon Guess. “During this exclusive behind the scenes ‘how it's made’ tour visitors will see how T-shirts get their colorful graphics, how beautifully designed business cards and custom shaped stickers are created from start to finish in just a matter of hours. We are excited to share the process while hopefully inspiring our visitors’ imaginations to what's possible for their businesses and brands.”
Jakprints was founded in 1999 by Dameon Guess and Jacob Edwards. Although the company has grown to serve customers of any size in countries all over the world, Jakprints continues to do what made them so successful initially: making high-quality, custom printing available to everyday people, such as small business owners, artists, musicians, churches, etc.
Jakprints’ esteemed clients include MOCA Cleveland, Cleveland Public Theatre, Vitamin Water, Whole Foods, MTV, Atlantic, Universal Records, Zippo, Live Nation, Roku, the Onion, the Ohio State University and many more.
In addition to learning the history of the business and the printing processes, guests will learn more about entrepreneurship in Northeast Ohio from business owners who started working out of a van and have grown so much that they established a second printing facility in Oceanside, Calif., in 2015.
“This is the perfect opportunity for the aspiring entrepreneur to learn what it takes to start a business in Cleveland,” says Engage! Cleveland’s marketing, events and development manager Katelyn Gainer. “We hope young professionals become inspired and leave with a vision to start their own projects. Our Behind the Scenes series is a unique opportunity for attendees to go behind the scenes of local Cleveland businesses and organizations while networking with other Cleveland young professionals.”
Each attendee receives a gift bag filled with product samples and a Jakprints coffee mug. Appetizers and refreshments will be served. Engage! Cleveland’s Jakprints Behind the Scenes Tour takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24. Registration is $10 and available through Eventbrite.
