Renee DeLuca, president of New Albion Brewing Co. and daughter of founder and original brewer Jack McAuliffe, has been shepherding the business back to vitality after learning of her family connection to the brewery. (New Albion closed in 1982.)
We've written about DeLuca's odyssey, a story that goes back to a 2000 discovery that McAuliffe was her father. From there, the mission was clear: "One of the first things I said when I found out what my dad did was, 'Beer is in my blood; I knew it!'" DeLuca told us.
New Albion Ale was revived in bottle form a few years back. Platform began serving the beer on tap just a few weeks ago. The can distribution model is the company's next step back into the community.
The Akron Beacon-Journal first reported on the distribution news. “I wanted to bring it back in a way that was super convenient so people could take it on their boat or on the golf course — wherever they are going,” DeLuca told the paper.
You'll be able to find New Albion Ale in cans ($10.99 for a sixer) wherever Platform brews are sold, which is to say many, many places around town.
