Local artist Matthew Gallagher’s relationship with the Sandusky Cultural Center and friendship with its director Charles Mayer began when Gallagher was still a student at Oberlin College. Gallagher has exhibited in numerous group shows at SCC, and his work is in Mayer’s renowned personal collection. A native of Boston, Gallagher chose to pursue his art career in Northeast Ohio following graduation. Now living in Cleveland, Gallagher has been invited back to SCC to curate a group exhibition designed to introduce SCC’s audience to a new, diverse roster of Cleveland-based artists. A Curator’s Choice includes new and recent work by Libby Chaney, Deanna Dionne, Maggie Duff, Alexander Haines, Mike Lombardy, Emma Pavlik, Allison Polgar, Christopher Richards, Audra Skuodas and Corrie Slawson. The exhibition opens with a reception from 1 to 4 p.m. today and remains on view through Oct. 16. Free. (Usmani)
