A Discussion and Book Signing

When: Fri., June 16 2017
A week before the 28th annual Cleveland Pride Parade, MOCA Cleveland hosts a discussion and book signing with noted author John Chaich. Chaich will discuss his 192-page book, Queer Threads: Crafting Identity and Community, at 7 tonight. Queer Threads was also the title of a traveling exhibition that opened in 2014 at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay & Lesbian Art in New York City. The book features an international, intergenerational collection of 30 artists whose work explores queer identity by "remixing fiber craft traditions as well as tensions between art and craft, masculine and feminine and gay and straight." During his talk, Chaich will discuss connections between language, material and LGBTQ identity. A book signing will follow. The event is free with museum admission: $9.50 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for students with valid ID. Admission is always free for members, children ages 5 and under and active military and veterans. (Usmani)
