A Need for Speed

This is the inaugural year of NEOSonicFest, a new music festival of contemporary classical works presented by the Grammy Award-winning Cleveland Chamber Symphony. The festival features six performances in various venues around Cleveland, and we’ve already told you about a bunch of them. Tonight, well-known Cleveland saxophonist Howie Smith churns out some real avant-garde tunes as he performs “The Speed of Time,” an experimental piece for saxophone and electronics played through 9-channel surround sound. Admission is free, but a $10 donation is suggested. (Gonzalez) 2121 Euclid Ave., neosonicfest.org.
