A Place at the Table

When: Thu., Dec. 1 2016
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage and Case Western Reserve’s Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities have teamed up to bring renowned chef and culinary historian Michael Twitty to town tonight for A Place at the Table. Black, gay and Jewish, Twitty believes everything is political, including food. He will examine privilege, challenge cultural appropriation and discuss culinary justice, the idea that “historically oppressed peoples have a right to authority, sovereignty, prosperity and acknowledgment for their contribution to national and global foodways.” Tickets are $12, $10 for Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Maltz Museum Members and $6 for students and educators.
