A Sailor's Story

When: Fri., Dec. 27 2013
During World War II, three sailors begin their 24-hour shore leave in New York City when Gabey (Gene Kelly) falls in love actress Ivy "Miss Turnstiles" Smith. The two other sailors (Frank Sinatra and Jules Munshin) Chip and Ozzie find love in the city as well. An upbeat, hilarious musical, the film really captures what New York was like in the 1940s. It screens today at 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art as part of the museum's Gene Kelly film festival. (Hammond)
