A Shock to the System

When: Fri., Aug. 15 2014
Bollywood isn’t the only cinema to have emerged out of India. Tonight and tomorrow at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, see Miss Lovely, a film which has been called “a shock to the system,” and the most mesmerizing Indian film of all time! Whoa! The film is set in the 1980s, something of a booming decade for sleazy horror porn in certain Indian ghettos. Here, a young woman may be two aspiring directors’ ticket “out of the grindhouse ghetto.” Visually stunning and bursting with weird, melodramatic, noir-ish energy, this one’s a unique offering for the international cinephiles. Tickets are $9 ($6 for members) for the screening tonight at 9:40 p.m. and tomorrow night at 9:15 p.m. (Allard)
