A String Thing

When: Thu., Feb. 6 2014
There are actually two separate but related events happening at the Cleveland Museum of Art tonight, both related to each other. The first is a pre-concert talk on rare Italian violins by Philip J. Kass, curator of stringed instruments at Curtis Institute of Music. That starts at 6. At 7:30, Gil Shaham takes the stage to give a special performance with a 1699 “Countess Polignac” Stradivarius. Shaham has played all over the world, and he brings a unique blend of warmth and flawless technique to his performances. Tonight, he’ll play Bach’s Sonata No. 2 in A minor, Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D minor and Bach’s Sonata No. 3 in C major. Tickets start at $39, and both events take place in the Gartner Auditorium (Trenholme)
