A Visual Feast

When: Fri., July 11 2014
Sure to be visual feast, the documentary Watermark screens tonight at 5:30 p.m. and tomorrow at 6:45 p.m. at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. It follows two visionary, socially-minded Canadian filmmakers, Jennifer Baichwal and photographer Edward Burtynsky, as they travel the globe and document humans’ relationship with water. This duo made the 2006 doc Manufactured Landscapes and this one continues to explore the theme of industry’s influence on the natural world. Vivid natural imagery, including incredible shots of rivers that look like giant trees, makes the destruction of our planet seem all the more depressing. Great flick for residents of a city on a lake with a river through downtown. Tix are $9. (Allard)
