There’s something relaxing about jazz. Sometimes, the music is just a feeling that allows you to work in peace without distraction, and other times it demands your attention and takes you for an emotional ride. Tonight, Bobby Ferraza will try to do the latter on the steps of the Lakewood Library for the front-porch concert series. As associate professor of jazz guitar at Oberlin College & Conservatory, Ferraza has recorded numerous jazz albums with technical drum and bass rhythms that support the lightly layered on running guitar lines that fall just atop the surface. Ferraza’s fingers move up and down the neck with lightning fast speed as he commands the guitar with subtlety that his mentor Bill deArango instilled in him at a young age. (William Hoffman)
