Good Touch Bad Touch will appear on WRUW 91.1 FM's Live From Cleveland on Thursday, February 18, from 10-11 p.m. The Lakewood indie-pop quartet will play live and talk about its music. They will perform new material and songs from their upcoming self-titled debut, produced by the group and mixed by bassist Dave Molnar at the Davenport in Lakewood. Expect live favorites like "Easy Way Out" and "Autopilot" in addition to quieter, offbeat tunes like "Hey Rebecca" and "Albatross."
"It's a guitar-driven, rough-edged power-pop record," says singer-guitarist Ryan James Wilkins. "Lots of harmonies and hopefully lots of singalong potential. [Unlike] the preceding description, nothing about it is remotely clichéd."
The CD release is set for Saturday, April 24, at the Beachland Tavern.
Devo will perform live on NBC on Monday, February 22, at a Winter Olympics Games victory ceremony. The Akron icons will play old favorites and material from their upcoming album, their first studio effort in nearly 20 years. Warner Bros., the band's longtime label, will release it sometime this year. Drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, Guns N' Roses) will back the classic lineup.
In the Mix, a new monthly dance party, kicks off on Saturday, February 20, at the Cyrus Waterfront (2000 Sycamore Ave., West Bank of the Flats). Derek Armstrong and Greg C will spin electronic dance music, from house to progressive beats. Admission $5, ages 18 and over.
Guitarist Joe "Jozey" Zeitler, formerly of Akron metal band Mob Scene, and Alan Seibert, who played guitar with Cleveland heavy rockers Abdullah, are working on a new part-time project called Blacklist Heroes. "We have amassed about 27 cock-rock tunes that are as good as anything we have ever done, probably even better," says Zeitler. The duo is recording demos, but still need a vocalist. Zeitler says they're looking for "anyone who can sing in the Beautiful Creatures/Bang Tango/GNR/Scott Weiland vein." Contact Zeitler at [email protected].
Zeitler says Mob Scene, which disbanded in 2006, plans to play two live shows this year and release a CD of old live tracks.
