Colin Farrell stars in this new movie about a fisherman who catches a beautiful woman one day. It's sorta like Splash directed by the guy who made The Crying Game. Kevin Kline heads a stellar cast (Paul Dano, Katie Holmes, John C. Reilly) in this comedy about a guy who escorts rich old ladies to fancy-ass gatherings so he can live the good life. Opens Friday at the Cedar Lee Theatre.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Gentlemen also prefer shapely '50s dames in Howard Hawks' 1953 comedy about a pair of gold-diggers (played by Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell). Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. At 5:15 p.m. Saturday, September 4, and 8:30 p.m. Sunday, September 5.

Lourdes

A wheelchair-bound paraplegic makes a pilgrimage to a Catholic shrine, looking for a miracle. Which is probably more reliable than a piece of bacon that looks like Jesus, when you think about it. Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. At 6:30 p.m. Sunday, September 5.

Mao's Last Dancer

True story about a dancer who grew up in a Chinese village, was shipped to Beijing to study ballet, and eventually defected to the United States after falling in love with a girl from Texas. Opens Friday at the Cedar Lee Theatre.

OSS 117 — Lost in Rio

A French satire of '60s spy movies about a secret agent in Brazil. Yeah baby! Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 3, and 9:20 p.m. Saturday, September 4.

A Talking Picture

A history professor takes her daughter on a cruise of the Mediterranean, where they chat about a lot of stuff. John Malkovich and Catherine Deneuve are also onboard. Cleveland Museum of Art Morley Lecture Hall. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 1.
