At the Arthouse

Non-multiplex flick picks this week

Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel

Anybody who's worth a fuck that made a movie during the last third of the 20th century got his start with Roger Corman. Jack Nicholson, Francis Ford Coppola, Robert De Niro, and Martin Scorsese all launched their careers working on one of the producer-director's low-budget films. A bunch of those people — as well as Quentin Tarantino, William Shatner, and Ron Howard — talk about the Little Shop of Horrors auteur in this fun documentary, which is stuffed with clips from some of his greatest achievements. At the Cinematheque at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, March 8, and 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 9. — Michael Gallucci

Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey

Documentary about the guy whose hand is up the furry red monster's butt. Cleveland Museum of Art's Morley Lecture Hall. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14.

The Cinematheque's Robert Bresson series continues with the director's 1983 movie — his last and one of his best — about a counterfeit bank note and its consequence on someone whose path it crosses. Cinematheque. At 5:15 p.m. Saturday, March 10, and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11.

Anna Paquin, Mark Ruffalo, and Matt Damon star in this new movie about a high-school student who feels responsible for a tragic bus accident. Cinematheque. At 7 p.m. Saturday, March 10, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11.

Norwegian Wood

Revenge of the Electric Car

You know what would be a good movie? One about a neglected Nissan that gets even with its Starbucks-sipping owner for being such a douchebag. Unfortunately, this is a documentary about forward-looking automakers. Cleveland Museum of Art's Morley Lecture Hall. At 7 p.m. Friday, March 9, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11.

To Kill a Mockingbird

The new monthly Classic Film Series launches with one of the all-time best, which also happens to be celebrating its 50th anniversary. Shaker Square Cinemas. 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10.
