Non-multiplex flick picks this week

The Best of the Three Stooges I, 1934-1937

While the Cleveland International Film Festival celebrates one or two or three types of movies this week, the Cinematheque will be spotlighting a different kind of cinema. The Cleveland Cult Film Festival 3 gets under way this weekend with this 90-minute compilation of five of the Three Stooges' best shorts, including the all-time classic "Disorder in the Court." Best of all, they all star Larry, Curly, and Moe — not a Shemp or (shudder) Curly Joe in sight. The Farrelly Brothers' new Stooges movie opens in less than a month, but here's the real deal, with 10 times as many eye pokes and hair rips. Cinematheque. At 9:15 p.m. Friday, March 23, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24. — Michael Gallucci

Alice — This surreal 1988 animated outing does double duty in both the Cinematheque's "Cleveland Cult Film Festival 3" and the "Features of Jan Svankmajer" series. Cinematheque. At 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24.
