How do these words sound when combined: avant-garde, experimental sound and dance? Probably not your typical Friday night but who wants something typical? Tonight at Playhouse Square’s Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre, experience the wonders of the human body when provoked by the strange sounds of music and a driving rhythmic tempo. The group known as AudioKinetic will put on a performance that will challenge you to move beyond the normal realm of dance shows and be open to experimental music (here’s hoping it’s Die Antwoord). Dancing to avant-garde music pieces will likely be more chaotic than beautiful and flowing, but it’s this percussive music like this that reportedly inspired the Beatles to create Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band so who’s to say it can’t inspire another work of art? Admission is free and the performance starts at 7 p.m. (Hoffman)
