Author Series with Jason King

For their annual Music Masters Series, the folks at the Rock Hall have chosen to pay tribute to soul singer Smokey Robinson. The events leading up to the Nov. 7 gala concert commence today with an author series featuring musician, journalist, DJ and producer Jason King. The Director of Global Studies and the Director of Writing, History & Emergent Media Studies at New York University, he regularly writes fro magazines and has appeared in many music documentaries. Today's talk, which takes place at 7 p.m. at the Library Reading Room at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives, will focus on Robinson's songwriting techniques and attempt to explain the Quiet Storm format. Admission is free but reservations are required. (Niesel)
