Balls of Fury

Tourney looks an awful lot like a nerdy schoolkid's worst nightmare.

Today's Duck 'N Dodge Cleveland dodgeball tournament at the Sports Dome is all about channeling your inner Ben Stiller. Teams of six to nine players square off in three games; winners head to single-elimination playoffs. The victors snag free burritos for a year. There's both a high-school division and an adult tourney . . . and everyone's welcome, says Adam Lefler, captain of the Destroyers squad. "My dad has played with me," he says. But don't expect to see Lefler dodging balls today. He tore a ligament at a game a few weeks ago. Yep, things can get pretty heated here. Just be sure to follow the rule book. "It's 30 pages long," laughs Lefler. "They could have simplified things a bit." Action starts at 8:45 a.m. at the Sports Dome, 6060 West Canal Road. Fees range from $15 to $19 per player. It's free to watch the tourney. Call 216-447-7878 or visit for more information.
