Band of the Week

Along Came a Spider

Meet the Band: Carl Dolvin (vocals), Justin Sobota (guitar, vocals), Luke Fockler (guitar), John Calo (bass/keys), Tony Castillo (drums)

Suburban Living: These guys all call Cleveland home but they hail from different parts of Northeast Ohio. "We kind of just came together from different bands that fell apart," says Sobota. "I started the band in 2008, and it took awhile to build. But a friend of a friend came in with different members, and we all fell into place."

Timing is Everything: Though their upcoming Peabody's show is a CD-release party, the album If We Were Normal Men actually dropped in October. "Our release date was given to us right as we got signed to [Standby Records] when we had other stuff in motion, so there wasn't really a release party thing," says Sobota. "Now that it's been out, it's not even really a release party. It's more of a CD commemoration."

Something for Everyone: In a world eager to categorize everything it hears, Along Came a Spider has mass appeal. "I like to think that we're kind of catchy and something different. Mostly watching us, people get drawn to us because we have a really good stage presence," says Sobota.
