Benefit for Tony Urso with Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments/45 Spider/Dutch Babies/The Aggravators/Drexels/DJ Jim Lanza

When: Fri., Jan. 11, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $10
Go to Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments’ Wikipedia page and you’ll get a notice that it has been deleted because of “no evidence of notability.” And yet the Columbus-based band’s 1995 album Bait and Switch is an indie rock classic distinguished by Ron House’s sneering vocals and the band’s gritty garage rock sound. In fact, opening track “My Mysterious Death (Turn It Up Again)” still holds up as a classic post-punk anti-anthem. The band comes out of hibernation to play this show, a benefit for Tony Urso, long-time local musician and advocate of the local underground scene who’s been diagnosed with throat cancer.
