Best Bet If You're Footing the Bill

Taydo

Despite our best efforts to sit on our wallet, now and then we find ourselves picking up the check for a dinner party. But because Taydo's prices are astonishingly low, we can throw a veritable banquet here -- one lasting several hours and accompanied by Tsing Tao beer and flowery jasmine tea -- and still expect to sustain only minimal damages. While the ambiance is simple, the aromatic Vietnamese food (items like airy crêpes and sautéed chicken seasoned with lemongrass) is impressively exotic -- and just right for sharing around the table. Sure, we're cheap. But our friends think we're pretty smart.
