Best Book Written by a Clevelander

You Remind Me of Me, by Dan Chaon

Cleveland Heights resident and Oberlin prof Chaon's 2001 short-story collection, Among the Missing, was nominated for a National Book Award. You Remind Me of Me, his first novel, picks up similar themes of loss, despair, and displacement, and places them into four crisscrossing and generation-spanning tales of midwestern people trying to live their lives the best they can. From the physically and mentally scarred twentysomething searching for the half brother who was given up at birth to the fretful woman whose grandson disappears from her backyard, Chaon's characters will haunt you.
