Best Diner

Mom's Diner

Mom's Diner is not retro or nostalgic. It's not a flashback to the '50s. It's an inexpensive, good-looking little eatery that asks (and answers) the question: What would diner food be like, prepared by talented cooks using top-shelf ingredients? Well, for one thing, the turkey would be real roasted breast, not sodium-infused "turkey roll." For another, chicken would come from Bell & Evans, not from a no-name megaproducer. And finally, while the milkshakes might not arrive at the table in their metal blender cups, at least they are made with real homemade ice cream, not nasty-tasting soft-serve. That's all there is to it: humble food, intelligently prepared, served up in pleasant surroundings. In other words, it's just the way Mom likes it.
