Best Food Under the (Movie) Stars

Mr. Zub's Deli

Highland Square might be the coolest part of Akron to live and party. But if you have a picky palate and the hour is late, your options are limited. Mr. Zub, God bless him, saves the day. Zub's is actually owned and run by Mario Nemr, the Rubber City nightlife impresario who made the nearby Thursday's Lounge a must-visit nightspot. Now a year old, the Deli opens at 11 a.m. seven days a week, closing at 2 a.m. Sundays and 3 a.m. all other days. Not only is it your latest option, it's the tastiest: Hot or cold, the piled-high sandwiches come with wink-and-nod Hollywood names, many of them references to Wes Anderson flicks or This Is Spinal Tap! The Jerk boasts mounds of ham & Swiss. The Uncle Buck provides a turkey alternative to the traditional Royal Tenenbaum reuben. Vegetarian options like the Juno MacGuff grilled veggie pita are popular. But if you like meat and you like it simple, get a mouthful of the giant Dirk Diggler wiener.
