Best Library for Kids

Lakewood Public Library

Pajama Sam has to catch his nemesis, and he needs your help finding his flashlight! But never fear -- the youth-services department at Lakewood Public Library has come to the rescue. Pajama Sam: No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside is one of more than 100 DVDs to keep the library's youngest patrons busy during the department's Tekturns program. During as many as four hour-long time blocks each day, kids clamor for computer stations to play interactive discs featuring beloved characters like Tickle Me Elmo and Barbie dolls, not to mention killer Tonka trucks. During the school year, librarians become literary MDs for homework ER. The after-school program lets kindergartners through eighth-graders stop in for two hours' worth of help in reading, writing, and arithmetic, all of which adds up to a sweet spot for the littlest bookworm in your life.
