Best Museum

Cleveland Museum of Art

The art museum does so many things so well -- like its current Master Drawings exhibit, for example. The drawings are superb, the curatorial work is outstanding, and the show breaks new ground for this institution. The photography exhibits have been consistently rewarding as well, and this year's blockbuster -- Faces of Impressionism -- was not only wildly popular, it also happened to be a mighty fine show. Finally, purchases like the Frans Hals portrait and the early Greek bronze statuette confirm that the museum is committed to adding extraordinary pieces to its collection and to enriching the cultural life of this area.
