The Phat Phree

When he started it last year, former Kent Stater Charlie DeMarco thought thephatphree.com would be a place for him and his friends to screw around and make each other laugh. Instead, all hell broke loose. Local comic Mike Polk, a friend of DeMarco's, penned "Look at My Striped Shirt," a hilarious indictment of the JŠger-bomb-guzzling junior VPs who inhabit Warehouse District clubs. Polk's piece, along with the "NBA All-Ugly Team" and other satire from the site, starting popping up in in-boxes nationwide. Before long, the site was attracting tens of thousands of visitors a day -- including some with clout. DeMarco and his buddies have since landed a book deal and are hard at work on a TV show about a crew of Midwestern guys trying to make it big. Sound like anybody we know?
