Best Pipe Organ

Trinity Evangelical
Lutheran Church

Cleveland's many churches, concert halls, and music schools offer a plethora of worthy competitors in this category, but the historic Rudolph von Beckerath organ at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran takes the prize. Built in Hamburg, Germany, and shipped here in the late 1950s, the Beckerath holds the honor of being the first large-scale mechanical organ in the United States. Assembled according to traditional European design standards dating back to the masterful Johann Sebastian Bach himself, the organ is noted for its unusually powerful but subtle pedal. All told, the instrument features some 3,500 pipes in 65 ranks, playable from four different keyboards. Whether you're a player or just a listener, the Beckerath provides a unique sonic experience.
